Dallam Released Mugshot Context
A booking photo records appearance when jail staff processed a person. It is one part of the booking file. Release does not make the image a current portrait, and the image does not say whether the charge led to dismissal, acquittal, conviction, probation, or another result. Pair it with the Dallam-Hartley movement record and the Dallam County court disposition.
Texas does not make every booking photo automatically public in every case. Open Records Decision 616 required release of a mugshot tied to a conviction when no active investigation remained, but other authorities permit withholding in active cases. Juvenile, privacy, sealed, expunged, and nondisclosure rules can also affect access. The sound approach is to request the existing image and let the custodian make a case-specific Public Information Act decision.
Dallam Released-Inmate Photo Sources
The August 2026 access sweep found no official Dallam County roster, recent-release gallery, photo field, or sheriff mobile app. That absence rules out the easy browse-and-click route found in some counties. It does not prove the jail has no booking image. It means a named record request is the defensible local path.

Commercial publishing sites may also retain images, but they are not official sources and receive no links or endorsement here. An image can be stale, mislabeled, detached from a later disposition, or left online after the government record changes.
No Dallam Mugshot Gallery
The official Dallam-Hartley Jail-Dispatch page identifies the local facility but provides no roster control, release archive, or photo gallery. The county department directory and sheriff page likewise yielded no official recent-release view. A missing photo online therefore says nothing about whether a booking occurred or whether the image remains in agency storage.
The same sweep found no Dallam sheriff app. The Texas DPS sex-offender application is a statewide registry tool, not a Dallam recent-release or jail-photo app. Do not use a Dallas County result, another sheriff's feed, or a commercial mirror merely because the names look similar. Dallam and Dallas are different jurisdictions.
The official Dallam County Sheriff page remains the source for current contact information. It should be checked before sending a request because agency email practices and designated public-information methods can change. A general jail inquiry may locate the correct custodian, but the written response is the durable record of whether an image exists and can be released.
A person who has left the current jail population may have been released to the community, transferred to TDCJ, moved to another county, or delivered to federal or immigration custody. Only the movement record resolves that question. A photo cannot.
Request a Dallam Booking Photo
Dallam County's open-records notice directs written requests to the elected official or department head that maintains the record. For a jail booking image, address the request to Sheriff Shane Stevenson or the Dallam-Hartley County Jail at 501 Denver Avenue, Dalhart, TX 79022. The sheriff office number is 806-244-2313, and the jail number is 806-244-2541. Published emails are sheriff@dallam.org and jail-dispatch@dallam.org, but confirm which email is the designated PIA method before relying on it.

Ask for records, not research. A clear request might seek “the booking photograph maintained with the named booking episode, plus the booking sheet and release or movement record.” Adding the cause number helps staff separate records tied to the joint Dallam-Hartley facility.
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 requires prompt production of public information, but it does not promise every record within ten business days. If production cannot occur in that period, §552.221 calls for a reasonable availability date. A body seeking an Attorney General decision to withhold follows separate statutory steps.
Dallam Photo Fees and Limits
No fixed Dallam booking-photo fee was published in the research. State cost rules distinguish inspection, copies, programming, and other work. Under §552.2615, an estimate above $40 triggers a written itemized estimate and response deadlines. A narrow date range, one named booking, and electronic delivery can reduce cost without losing the key image and release context.
Law-enforcement and privacy exceptions may restrict all or part of the file. Section 552.108 can apply to active investigation or prosecution material, while its basic-information rule may preserve access to some facts. If the image is withheld, ask which exception applies and whether other separable booking or release fields can be produced.
Note: A public booking entry does not guarantee that every linked image or investigative record must be released.
Dallam Mugshot Policy in Practice
Dallam's distinctive policy fact is the lack of a public-facing photo channel. The official sweep found neither a roster-photo gallery nor a sheriff app. A targeted PIA request is therefore more reliable than searching names across unofficial collections. Open Records Decision 616 supports the case-specific analysis: a conviction-era photo with no active investigation can be releasable, while a different file may fall within an exception.
The request should stay tied to the named episode. Include the booking date, arresting agency, and cause number if available. Ask for the photo as maintained, not for a newly prepared image or a custom account of the case. Then compare the photo's booking date with the jail event and the clerk's disposition. That small chain protects against attaching an old image to a new event.
The official Dallam open-records notice explains the county routing method. When the jail is not the proper custodian, ask it to identify the elected official or department that holds the responsive record.
Dallam State-Prison Photo Checks
A Dallam arrest can later lead to TDCJ custody, but county and state files remain distinct. TDCJ's online search covers current prisoners only. Its routine inmate-information email expressly says photographs are not provided through that service. If a state-prison image is needed, ask the designated TDCJ records custodian whether an existing releasable photograph is held. Do not promise that the public search will display one.
The Texas DPS Sex Offender Registry is narrower. It can display a color photograph and statutory public fields for a person who has a Chapter 62 registration duty. It is not a general list of Dallam County released inmates and cannot establish the exact jail-exit time. The registry image serves a statutory record purpose and should not be relabeled as a county booking gallery.

Dallam Mugshots in News Reports
The Dalhart Texan and regional news outlets may publish an agency-supplied arrest image. Such a report preserves the facts and claims available on its publication date. It is not the official release record. Later court action, transfer, or release may not appear in the original story, and the image may predate the reader's current question.
Keep the article date, caption, named agency, and stated case context. Then confirm custody status with the Dallam-Hartley jail record and verify the disposition through the combined County and District Clerk. Do not treat a press image as evidence that the person remains jailed or that the arrest led to conviction.
Dallam Mugshot Access After Orders
Texas expunction is now organized in Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A. Eligibility turns on the offense, result, waiting rules, and required procedure. Release or dismissal alone does not establish eligibility. A valid expunction generally requires covered agencies to return or destroy records and permits denial of the event, subject to statutory exceptions.
An order of nondisclosure under Government Code Chapter 411, Subchapter E-1 works differently. It restricts ordinary public disclosure of covered criminal-history information, but authorized entities retain access and every record is not physically destroyed. Government Code §552.142 also protects nondisclosed information from public release. Give any signed order to the agency or publisher that holds the image and ask for a written response.
Business & Commerce Code Chapter 109 regulates covered businesses that publish criminal-record information, including arrest photographs. It addresses accuracy, completeness, correction, removal, expunction, nondisclosure, and remedies. It does not certify a publisher's accuracy, ban all publication, or guarantee removal from every source. No fee-based removal service is endorsed.
A correction request is not the same as expunction. When Texas criminal-history information has an incomplete or inaccurate disposition, DPS directs the person to obtain the certified disposition from the court and use the Crime Records Service error-resolution process. For a Dallam case, the combined clerk can supply the court document. That process corrects a government history; it does not automatically control every copy once held elsewhere.
